3080 MSI

MSI – GeForce RTX™ 3080 SUPRIM X 10GB thermal pad sizes

For a full replacement you will need 1 piece of 80x40x2mm, 2 pieces of 80x40x3mm and an additional 100x100x1.5mm slice to cover all those surface on the side. If you just want to care about your VRAMs you can safely go with a classic pair of 2mm and 3mm piece of pads of the 80x40mm size.

Front side original sizes – see attached pictures (3)

  1. 104×7.5×1.5mm
  2. 97x14x1.5
  3. 51x15x2mm
  4. 38x15x2mm
  5. 15×12.5x2mm
  6. 51x15x2mm
  7. 89×7.5x2mm
  8. 82.5x14x1.5mm
  9. 82x6x1.5mm
  10. 75x10x1.5mm

Back side original sizes – see attached pictures (4)

  1. 98x7x3.5mm
  2. 50×12.6×3.5mm
  3. 12x12x3.5mm
  4. 36.5x14x3.5mm
  5. 51×12.5×3.5mm
  6. 81×7.4×3.5mm

Even though the back plate uses 3.5mm thickness, which is pretty rare to found, many reported that 3mm just works fine.

Sizes guide

  • The scrissor sign next to a size means it can be cut out from that slice of thermal pad. It is not the actual size! Example: 80x40x2mm
  • One dimension size means it’s the thickness of that pad. Example: 1mm
  • Two or three dimension sizes – with no scrissor sign – means it’s most probably an actual size. Example 100x14x1.5mm

About sizes

Sizes you find here come from various sources. Most of them reported by my clients whom successfully replaced their GPUs’ factory thermal pads with high quality aftermarket pads – getting significant results in their temperature drop. Some of these sizes are actual measurements and others just collected from random users on such websites like Reddit, YouTube or official / unofficial forums.

Do your own research

Please note that I cannot take any responsibility for the sizes appearing here. Do your own research as well before buying and replacing anything.

Tips

  • Make sure your pads and GPU die contacts well with the heatsink.
  • Always test your graphic cards and devices in controlled environment.

Hey – does this apply to 3080ti models too?

There is something wrong here with the numbers listed. No. 2 and 5 should be (nearly) identical, yet listed thicknesses are very-very different. Pad 3’s size looks to be listed for pad 5. Pic shows 1.5 mm for no. 7, yet numbers on the side say 2 mm.

there is another tiny 2mmx3mm piece being missed in the diagram it is hidden inside the card holder. Also for mining upgrade purpose, all pads thickness to the front side can be increased by +0.5mm, which are 2mm and 2.5mm – instead of original 1.5mm and 2mm.
