3070 Ti MSI

MSI – GeForce RTX™ 3070 Ti SUPRIM X 8G thermal pad sizes

There are several sizes on this beast. My client confirmed that replacing only on the front of the VRAMs brings satisfying results – approximately 30 degrees drop on memory temperature.

One piece of 80x40x2mm more than enough to replace pads on the front side of the VRAMs.

Capacitors on the side – marked yellow on second picture – needs 1.5mm.

The smaller one – marked blue on second picture – requires 1mm.

The backplate got some extremely height thermal pads. By looking at those size they are either 3.5mm – 4mm. They – and the rest of those not detailed here – are not necessarily have to be changed.

VRAM front:80x40x2mm
VRAM back:2 pieces of 80x40x2mm - It's 4mm thick!
Pads on the side:1mm, 1.5mm

Sizes guide

  • The scrissor sign next to a size means it can be cut out from that slice of thermal pad. It is not the actual size! Example: 80x40x2mm
  • One dimension size means it’s the thickness of that pad. Example: 1mm
  • Two or three dimension sizes – with no scrissor sign – means it’s most probably an actual size. Example 100x14x1.5mm

About sizes

Sizes you find here come from various sources. Most of them reported by my clients whom successfully replaced their GPUs’ factory thermal pads with high quality aftermarket pads – getting significant results in their temperature drop. Some of these sizes are actual measurements and others just collected from random users on such websites like Reddit, YouTube or official / unofficial forums.

Do your own research

Please note that I cannot take any responsibility for the sizes appearing here. Do your own research as well before buying and replacing anything.

  • Make sure your pads and GPU die contacts well with the heatsink.
  • Always test your graphic cards and devices in controlled environment.

I just did the VRAM pads on a 3070ti Suprim. They are not 2mm, and I tried 2mm. The VRAM temps went up 4c with 2mm pads. When I tried 2.5mm pads, the temps went down 22c.

The stock pads have a membrane on them, which is why the VRAM temps are poor. However, they are squishy pads. If you look at the parts that aren’t compressed, you’ll see they’re 2.5mm
