ASUS – TUF Gaming GeForce RTX™ 3080 OC Edition thermal pad sizes

There is an additional removable heatsink between the main heatsink and the VRAMs so you may better go with at least 2 pieces of 80x40x2mm slice.

Watch thermal pad replacement video
VRAM front:80x40x2mm
VRAM back:80x40x3mm
Between the heatsinks:47x10x2mm
Pads on the side:66x12x1mm, 100x10x1mm, 105x6x2mm

Sizes guide

  • The scrissor sign next to a size means it can be cut out from that slice of thermal pad. It is not the actual size! Example: 80x40x2mm
  • One dimension size means it’s the thickness of that pad. Example: 1mm
  • Two or three dimension sizes – with no scrissor sign – means it’s most probably an actual size. Example 100x14x1.5mm

About sizes

Sizes you find here come from various sources. Most of them reported by my clients whom successfully replaced their GPUs’ factory thermal pads with high quality aftermarket pads – getting significant results in their temperature drop. Some of these sizes are actual measurements and others just collected from random users on such websites like Reddit, YouTube or official / unofficial forums.

Do your own research

Please note that I cannot take any responsibility for the sizes appearing here. Do your own research as well before buying and replacing anything.

Tips

  • Make sure your pads and GPU die contacts well with the heatsink.
  • Always test your graphic cards and devices in controlled environment.

I followed the above when repadding mine, please do note the 10x100x1mm pad in the first picture is most definitely not 1mm, 1mm doesnt come close. Use 2mm atleast.

Also recommend using the full width of the memory plate top of memory chips. Where the 10x47mm is. 10mm should fit other side of plate where no pad is and will contact heat pipes.

2mm Gelid Extremes were perfect sizing for images above

I just re-padded an ASUS RTX 3090 TUF GAMING with these exact instructions and my temps underload went from 108°C to 76°C. Idle temp was 60°C now it is 42°C.

I used 3mm Gelid GP-Extreme pads for the backplate. For the remainder I used Arctic TP-3 1mm pads. I simply either folded or doubled where the diagram calls for 2mm. The Arctics are designed to stack up to 2mm.

I would say this method worked for me well. I am not very happy with the temps of my card.
